- Cost: There is no charge for this service.
“I have been using the service for years. Everyone has been so nice and so concerned about how I am. If I was in the hospital they call me and leave messages inquiring if I am doing okay. You cannot find better people. It really makes a difference in my day as I don’t get many calls and don’t speak to a lot of people. It makes all the difference the world. That is why I have been using this service for all this time. It is the only contact I have with the outside world.” – Client
“I have a volunteer call me once a week from Community Care. It is a reassurance call. The volunteer I have is amazing. I always look forward to his call. No matter how low I am feeling, he always knows how to make me smile and laugh.” – Client
When are the calls made?
Telephone Reassurance calls are made during office hours. This is to ensure that CCD staff can follow up with the client or their caregiver in case of emergency.
Who makes Telephone Reassurance calls?
Volunteers call clients on an agreed upon day and time. Clients receive weekly calls from the same volunteer on the assigned day. This creates a rapport and consistency.
How long are the calls?
Telephone Reassurance calls may last between 5-7 minutes as volunteers sometimes have a list of clients to call that same day. Security calls are intended for check-ins and follow a different protocol than social calls. If a client does not answer, volunteers are to advise the office, and staff members follow up with the emergency contact on file. This is ideal for caregivers who may live far away from their loved ones and seek extra safety measures.
