Personal Support (Caregiver Relief/LEAP)

In-Home Respite provides much needed caregiver relief if you are caring for a loved one with needs related to aging, physical and/or mental health, which helps to prevent caregiver burnout and illness. Personal Support Workers (PSWs) deliver the service, and are trained to maintain a safe environment, provide personal care, assist with the activities of daily living, provide social interactions, meal preparation, client-centered light housekeeping and more.

A regular schedule can be set up to fit your needs: daytime, evening, and overnight.

Cost: $19.00 per hour, with a two hour minimum. This is a Central East LHIN-subsidized service.

LEAP (Long-Term Emergency Avoidance Program) is a full fee service available to you if your needs cannot be met through Community Care Durham’s regular basket of services, or if you require additional support. Services are provided by Personal Support Workers (PSWs). LEAP can assist if you have needs related to aging, physical and/or mental health, and help you remain independent at home by offering routine living activities. These can include personal care (including bathing and dressing), light housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry and local drives to shopping and medical appointments. A regular schedule to fit your needs can include daytime, evening and overnight care.

Cost: $30.00 per hour, with a one hour minimum.
