Friendly Visiting/Telephone Reassurance

Friendly Visiting:

Would you benefit from a visit by a volunteer on a regular basis? A friendly visit provides companionship and support if you are feeling alone, or if your needs restrict your ability to get involved in your community. Volunteers are carefully matched and enjoy sharing their talents and time. Visits can be up to two hours in length, in your home, at a mutually agreed upon time.

There is no fee for this service.

If you are interested in a volunteer friendly visitor, please call your local Community Care Durham office. This service is dependent on the availability of volunteers.

Telephone Reassurance:

The Telephone Reassurance service is for you or your loved one when a daily phone call would be welcome. A volunteer can call for a brief chat and a friendly check-in. These calls are a nice social connection, and can provide peace of mind to the family. Calls are usually five minutes in length, and can be provided Monday to Friday. If we are unable to connect with the client after several tries, we will contact a family member or friend to follow up.

There is no fee for this service.

If you are interested in receiving a daily phone call, please call your local Community Care Durham office. Service is dependent on the availability of volunteers.
