Day Program Coordinator, Adult Day Program
Full Time (35 hours/week)

We need an enthusiastic and creative team member to join our Adult Day Program staff in providing a wide array of social and recreational programs in a safe and comfortable setting for clients. Working from our locations in Durham Region (Ajax/Pickering, Clarington, Whitby and Uxbridge) the Day Program Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Providing decision support and assistance with problem solving to team members
  • Completing accurate client assessments and Day Program documentation
  • Planning, implementing and evaluating social recreational programming to meet the needs of clients with limitations resulting from aging, mental and/or physical illness and clients with impaired cognition
  • Assisting with activities of daily living, including client transfers, mobilization and toileting
  • Providing support and assistance with problem solving to primary caregivers
  • Promoting Community Care Durham services
  • Working effectively to support the success of the Community Care Durham team of volunteers, students and staff

Qualifications required:

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in social recreation/gerontology/healthcare or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and current, directly related programming and supervision experience
  • Experience in supervision/team leading of staff and volunteers required; experience in adult day programming required
  • Ability to meet the physical and emotional requirements of the position
  • Current first aid certificate
  • Intermediate MS Office skills
  • Satisfactory police vulnerable sector check
  • Licensed vehicle and the ability to travel within Durham Region
  • Sensitivity to adults with needs related to aging, physical and/or mental health
  • Must work in a safe manner and promote the health and safety of all staff, volunteers, clients and the community as outlined within CCD policies

Compensation: $19.73-$22.85 per hour; 3 weeks’ vacation per year of work; 13 paid (including stat) holidays; health, insurance and pension benefits when eligible.
