Clients are matched with one of CCD’s Friendly Visiting volunteers and receive much needed social interaction, so they can maintain their independence and quality of life while safely remaining in their home.

  • Cost: There is no fee for this service.

“I am an epileptic and can’t get out on my own anymore. I really enjoy having a friendly visitor, not only to accompany me on outings, but to make my life easier. I consider him to be a good friend.” – Client

“My friendly visitor is a perfect match for me. We are both history buffs and talk a lot about WW2. With her, history comes alive as she can provide insight that I didn’t just read about or learn in a classroom. She is a jolly-nice person whom I call my ‘visiting angel’.” – Client

“I have been a client of CCD for many years and benefit greatly from the Friendly Visiting service. It is a real treat for me to hear the phone ring and know there is a friendly voice on the other end. I look forward to meeting with my friend in person again soon.” – Client

What happens during a visit?

During a Friendly Visit, clients and volunteers may engage in a variety of activities including: a friendly chat, shared hobby, exercise or learning a new skill, all while making a lasting friendship.

When do visits occur?

Friendly Visits typically take place once a week for two (2) hours. These visits can be scheduled during the day, evening or on a weekend. Although our volunteers and clients are not currently meeting in person, there are options available to meet on virtual platforms such as Zoom or Google Meet. Together, we can keep people connected!
