Policy Writing Assistant

We welcome a methodical individual to join our Corporate Services Team this summer as a Policy Writing Assistant!

This is a brand new summer position with CCD as we continue to grow our agency. In this role, you will use your knowledge in policy development, analysis, planning and research to assist with the review and amalgamation of the various policy and procedure manuals within the agency. You will support and lead in policy research and analysis by reviewing current policies/guidelines and performing a gap analysis and needs assessment to align with current best practice. You will plan consultation meetings with managers to develop/review program policies and procedures and to suggest and obtain feedback for required revisions.

The successful candidate will:
• Have related knowledge of community and health care services
• Be enrolled in a post-secondary institution or a recent graduate with a focus in Business, Public Policy, Communications or associated field of study
• Possess the ability to analyze information and data from multiple sources, conduct research and present findings
• Apply strong interpersonal, and highly developed communication skills
• Demonstrate excellent writing ability
• Utilize Microsoft Office Programs efficiently
• Be highly organized with the ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities
• Provide a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (as age appropriate)

Canada Summer Job Requirements:
• Must be considered a Youth, between the ages of 15-30 at the start of employment
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred
• Possess a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada

Summer positions are conditional on Community Care Durham receiving funding from Canada Summer Jobs.

Compensation, Hours & Duration: $14.25 hour plus 4% vacation
June to August–up to 12 weeks 35 hours per week.*
(General office hours 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)
*Duration and weekly hours may change due to funding approval
