Adult Day Program

We need an enthusiastic and creative team member to join our Adult Day
Program staff in providing a wide array of social and recreational programs in a
safe and comfortable setting for clients. Working from our locations in Durham
Region (Ajax/Pickering, Clarington, Whitby and Uxbridge) the Recreationist is
responsible for:

Planning, implementing and evaluating social recreational programming to
meet the needs of clients with limitations resulting from aging, mental
and/or physical illness and clients with impaired cognition
Assisting with activities of daily living, including client transfers,
mobilization and toileting
Completing accurate client documentation
Providing support and assistance with problem-solving to primary
Working effectively with the Community Care Durham team of volunteers,
students and staff

Qualifications required:
Post-secondary diploma in recreation/activation or an acceptable
equivalent combination of education and current, directly-related
programming experience; experience in adult day programming required
Ability to meet the physical and emotional requirements of the position
Current first aid certificate.
Intermediate MS Office skills
Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check
Licensed vehicle and the ability to travel within Durham Region
Sensitive to the needs of the elderly and persons with disabilities
Compensation: $17.16 - $19.87 / hour; 3 weeks' vacation per years of work (pro-rated to hours of work); 13 paid (including stat) holidays; health, insurance and pension benefits when eligible.
